DCFC dull
The first opening act, Ra Ra Riot, was fabulous! Maybe it's just that I'm not a hard-core Social Distortion fan, but this show was disappointing. They should not have done the encore - it was a few uninspired songs, the last of which went into a slow, plodding riff over and over, getting louder and louder - with no demonstration of musical skill or even a glimpse of artistic talent - until it just stopped. I love the Social Distortion songs I know from radio, and enjoyed them at the show, but there were just too many long instrumental excursions that went nowhere - and certainly didn't make any of the band members look particularly talented. It doesn't help that the lead singer/songwriter/guitarist/keyboardist, Ben, looks like Dwight Shrute (from "The Office"), and seems to be extremely uncomfortable in his own skin. Not a good way to "leave 'em wanting more".
